First Lutheran Newton Iowa

The First Lurtheran Church of Newton Iowa is another example of an older, classic styled church that needed an up to date sound and video system.

The Bose MA-12 line array speakers often work well in this situation. Their low visual impact can preserve the original sight lines of the room design.

This sound system was not just the addition of a speaker system. Six wireless mics - two lapel and four handheld - were also part of the sound system package. We also added a new pulpit mic and numerous mic input jacks.

To control all of these inputs we installed a Bose Control Space system. This popular controller allow the use of multiple mic inputs and level and input presets without the need for a large mixing console or a full time sound system operator.

Two more speakers were used to cover the balcony area. They also act as monitors for the choir and organist.

Two very powerful 5000 lumen projectors with zoom lenses allow the projectors to be mounted at the front of the balcony. The projectors have enough light output to overcome the ambient light of the room (full windows) and the output from the lights when they are on.

The video screens were special order. They were designed to fit in the existing arches. When retracted the screens are not visible

The sound system is very feedback resistant - even with the pulpit mic just several feet away from the Bose MA-12 line array speaker and the Bose MB-4 subwoofer. The small speaker is a Bose DS-1000SE that serves as a monitor for musicians.

More than one person was unable to find the sound system in the room.
This close-up of one half of the main speaker system shows the Bose MA-12 line array and the MB-4 subwoofers.

Below is a Control Space control panel. This unit has caused a revolution in control design. Where complicated routing or numerous components were previously used, we now install this simple to use controller. It is easily changed, provides almost every audio processing function you can imagine and makes sound systems user friendly.

Remote control switches turn on the projectors and automatically set the light level.

A Tascam digital recorder uses compact flash cards to record services. These are cards can easily download the audio to a computer for editing and/or reproduction.

A hearing assistance system routes the output of the sound system to a transmitter. This output is available to parishioners using the provided receivers.

As always, every installation includes instruction and all associated manuals. Our customers rave about the quality of our installations and our polite install crew. We ALWAYS leave the room as clean as we found it.
